Vortex

£3,500.00

Vortex is an original charcoal and conte drawing on watercolour paper float framed in off white behind anti reflect, anti UV Art Glass. From my series of falling figures, where I used models on a trampoline and captured them mid-flight. Having had an accident while travelling abroad in my thirties where I fell out of a window, the act of falling has fascinated me ever since and using falling imagery in my work has been a way of processing what happened.

In a more metaphorical sense, falling for me represents the beauty and pathos of transience. The way the figure submits and yields to the space around it is a beautiful thing; the capture of a split second moment in time an impossibility in reality as we know it.

Currently on exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh as part of the 126th SSA ANNUAL Exhibition, this drawing is available through the Society of Scottish Artists. Please enquire through me.

Dimensions: 110cm x 110cm
